What we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
The short version. We collect the answers you give our assessment, your email if you make an account, and standard analytics about how you use the site. We use them to calculate your exposure score, email you if you asked us to, and figure out what to build next. We do not sell your data. We earn affiliate commissions when you buy a recommended product, and the retailer does not tell us what you bought.
Welden Home, Inc. (“Welden,” “we,” “us”) operates weldenhome.com and the Welden exposure assessment. Welden is intended for use by adults in the United States.
| What | When |
|---|---|
| Assessment answers: habits covering drinking, eating, breathing, and personal care, plus your ZIP code | When you take the assessment |
| Email address and password | If you create an account |
| Display name | Optional, at signup |
| Your reduction goal and target date | If you set a goal |
| Changes you commit to or mark as received | If you use the plan features |
| Which in-app nudges you saw, clicked, or dismissed | Automatically, if you use the plan features |
| Questions you ask the Welden assistant | When you use the chat |
| Feature votes and suggestions | If you use “Shape the roadmap” |
You can take the assessment and see your score without an account. Until you sign up, your answers stay in your browser’s local storage and are not associated with you.
Your ZIP code is used to look up published, public data for your area: EPA UCMR5 drinking-water results for PFAS, ambient-air data for VOCs, and county-level data for heavy metals and UV. It makes your score local. We do not use it to identify your home.
We do not use advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or third-party ad networks.
Service providers who process data on our behalf, under contract, for the purposes above:
| Provider | Role | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, score engine hosting | Account and assessment data |
| Vercel | Website hosting | Request logs, IP |
| PostHog | Product analytics, session recording, error tracking | Usage events, recordings, approximate location, your email once you sign in, and a summary of your exposure estimates |
| Resend | Transactional and preference-based email | Email address, delivery status |
| Anthropic | Powers the Welden assistant | The text of the questions you ask, and the exposure figures from your score that are needed to answer them |
We may also disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. In that case we’ll notify you before your data moves.
California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to know what we collect, delete it, correct it, and limit use of sensitive personal information. Your assessment answers combined with your ZIP may constitute sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CPRA. To exercise any right, email hello@weldenhome.com. We won’t discriminate against you for asking.
We keep your account data while your account is open. Deleting your account removes it. Analytics events and session recordings are retained according to our analytics provider’s retention schedule, which is shorter for recordings than for events.
Welden is not for anyone under 18. We don’t knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has given us data, email hello@weldenhome.com and we’ll delete it.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Database access is restricted by row-level security, so your rows are readable only by you. No system is perfectly secure, and we can’t guarantee absolute security.
We’ll update this page and change the “Last updated” date. Material changes get an email to account holders.
